Man Cave Upgrade: DIY Touchstone TV Lift Whiskey Barrel Project

Inspired by The Fountain at Drug City’s @thefountain2805 hidden stash whiskey barrel on TikTok, Tyler @thelawnreview set out to make his own Touchstone TV Lift whiskey barrel for his backyard bourbon lounge.

The Fountain is a one-of-a-kind place in the Baltimore, MD suburb of Dundalk where you can get a meal, an ice cream, a soft drink from an old fashioned soda machine - and find a liquor store speakeasy – all inside the Drug City Pharmacy. In the speakeasy, there is another surprise – a whiskey barrel with a hideaway shelf, powered by a motorized Touchstone Whisper Lift II PRO TV Lift Mechanism. The Lawn Review Whiskey Barrel TV Lift Project

In less than two hours, Tyler from The Lawn Review built his own hidden whiskey barrel bar lift, similar to the one at The Fountain. Tyler shares his process in detail, from removing the whiskey barrel lid to securing the round shelf and lid to the Touchstone TV Lift.

Finished in Under 2 Hours

A quick way to build a motorized whiskey cabinet inside a whiskey barrel:

• Cut the top off the whiskey barrel
• Place the Touchstone TV Lift Mechanism (without the TV mounting bracket) inside the barrel.
• Cut a hole in the bottom of the barrel for the TV lift's power plug.
• Cut plywood into a circle to create the shelf that lifts in and out of the barrel.
• Attach the shelf and the lid to the TV lift.

Tyler's meticulous attention to detail makes this whiskey barrel project really stand out. He paints the table surface black for a finished look and even adds a motion sensor light to the underside of the lid. The whiskey barrel looks great in his bourbon and cigar shed.
